Ayurveda is a sister science to yoga. It offers us exact instructions on how to live in harmony with the natural world and our specific constitution. Ayurveda states that the natural world is composed of five elements (ether, air, fire, water & earth) and we are also made up of those elements. Each of us is a unique composition of the five elements. Our composition is described as our tri-doshic make up or constitution. Some usually say dosha or dominant dosha, as well. Based on our constitution certain foods, herbs, and life practices can either support us or lead us to imbalance. Ayurveda shows us how to live in harmony with our own unique constitution, the natural world and the whole of life.
